Impression is inspired by a piano solo concert I went to while studying the piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen. The pianist, Michel Camilo, started a great encore with the left hand only and it was an experience that stayed with me. When writing Impression I started out wanting an effective left-hand that kept going non-stop, and then I tried to shake off the listener and confuse Måns by mixing the time signatures in the middle of the piece.
